GOODBYE SAD LONELY PINK BLOG….

I am in the process of creating a new website!

Thank you to everyone who left me a comment in here…it really encouraged me to write….when I actually did haha.

The new site will have weekly lifestyle tips and a sticker section…as well as much more artwork and other things. Unfortunately I’m going to have to disable the comments feature…it’s going to be more of a portfolio than a blog…I’m also removing my real name from the website as well. My lifestyle involves a lot of “rule bending” so to speak so it’s for my own safety.

This blog will be deleted in about 2 weeks, so anybody who wants to keep tabs on me should leave me a comment before they head over to MY NEW INTERNET LAND!

You can also “Like” my FACEBOOK PAGE!

Keep in touch!

Inspired by a recent dream….

Image

My dearest please,

Tell me where you are.

Have you gone into hiding?

Dissolved into ashes?

Have you transformed?

Perhaps into a flock of grey birds?

The ones I love so much,

That hover near my apartment during sunrise?

Which ones are clues?

The echo of my footsteps when I walk alone?

The plastic treasures lost in sidewalk cracks?

The wind in the leaves of the playground trees?

The city buildings acting so mysterious?

At a young age,

I  learned the glorious habit of staying up all night.

Was this to prepare me for the day I find you?

Will I ever find you?

I’m forever guessing…

These days i’m unsettled.

The stars aren’t as bright.

The moon still makes my heart beat faster

(it’s what keeps me going),

I’m starting to feel the world’s crushing weight

(I never believed it was light when they told me,

but still,

I used to think it was magic).

When I find you i’ll wear a crown made of lavender,

And red lipstick to show off my smile.

I’ll adorn myself with a dress made of lace,

And put daisies on the table by the door.

If walls could talk

…Displaying some of my artwork over my bed and next to my dream-catcher.

Bambi’s looking down on things, making sure all of the pictures are straight and not tilted too far…

The Number 13

I’ve been collecting 13’s and hanging them on my wall.

I’ve always been interested in the folklore and superstitions surrounding this number.

Plus I just think it looks cool.

13 inspired artwork is on the way…

What do you think about the number 13?

Artist Shout Out: Nick Blinko

Here and there, I’ve been working on some small, simple black and white drawings.

I don’t have an art update ready for tonight, but in effort to keep the inspiration flowing, I’d like to talk about one of the artists out there in the world who creates things that I enjoy.

Keeping with the black and white theme, tonight I’m going to mention Nick Blinko. He is known for being the singer, song writer, and guitar player for the english punk band Rudimentary Peni. What’s really cool is that he created all of the drawings for the band’s album artwork.

Art Samples: I love the subject matter here. Obsessive lines, hands/knives/rats, little winged creatures, detail on everything, the spiraling-in effect…kind of makes me feel haunted after I look at it for a while.

Great hand drawn letters on this album art!

From Wikipedia…

Diagnosed as suffering from Schizoaffective disorder, and in the past hospitalized, Blinko creates his pictures when not taking therapeutic medication that adversely affects his ability to work. His art conjures a nightmarish, anxiety-ridden world where inner demons might be exorcised through repetitive graphic marks. Out of thousands of tiny flecks and dashes emerge elaborate visions of skeletons, mysterious symbols and religious figures.

Another example of this is the Rudimentary Peni concept album:

This entire album was created by Blinko himself while in psychiatric hospital. He believed that he was Pope Adrian the 37th, for this Pope lived in the same town as Blinko many years before.

I just learned that he also published short-story books in the mid 90’s. Which reminds me…I need to add to my bookshelf soon…

New Room

(Sketchbook Scan)

With the much needed help of my nearest and dearest acquaintance, I moved my things into a new apartment last weekend, and unpacking is taking forever! Sometimes I forget how much of a pack-rat I am. I have so many little nick-knack collections. But life would be such a bore with empty shelves and walls, don’t you agree?

The process of moving is always such an ordeal, but change is good. I’ve been slacking on my updates here but as soon as my art supplies are organized again that will change.

I have some projects in the works that I can’t wait to share, mainly some wonderful hand painted accessories for girls. I’d like to go down a dark route with them, and make some rather unconventional items for ladies to carry in their purses. Perfect for roaming late into the night…

Anyway, I’ll leave you with a glimpse of a new favorite photo-booth in Brooklyn. I love photo-booths a little too much for my own good. One day I’d like to acquire one of my own and decorate it with velvet and plastic bats that will hang from the ceiling.
